Projects

This year 2025 was not only about direct working with artists, venues and events, but also about research and development on green mobility. I had a chance to cooperate closely with two great organisations that work is dedicated to matters or sustainability (Better Live/MOOC) and mobility (On the Move).

The results of these collaborations are to be found on the websites:

Dutch partnership at Budapest RITMO – with MVN CULTURE

This year’s Budapest Ritmo brings you the talents of The Netherlands, supported by Mijn Fonds – Fonds Podiumkunsten, Dutch Music Export, Buma Cultuur, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Hungary and MVN Culture. We will showcase Dutch talents on our stages (Altın Gün, Nusantara Beat and Arp Frique & The Perpetual Singers) and will introduce the Dutch music scene to the professional crowd as part of the conference programme.

Happy to be part of the team representing the Netherlands. As project’s initiator, Martyna will moderate networking meeting with Dutch delegation, will mentor showcasing artists and moderate a panel discussion on artistic collaborations that will include leader of Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino, Mauro Durante, among others.

MVN CULTURE is an official partner of third edition of JazzCamp for Girls in Katowice, Poland

JazzCamp for Girls is an international initiative in the form of workshops aimed at increasing the interest of girls aged 10-15 in the practice of improvisation and jazz. The project was initiated by JazzDanmark as a response to gender inequality in the jazz industry and expanded as a network of jazz camps around the world. Since 2022, it has also been successfully implemented in Poland by the Konsek Kultury Foundation and the Katowice Miasto Ogrodów Cultural Institution. The first edition of the project won the “Sunflowers” Award for the most developmental initiative for children in the Silesian Voivodeship in the Music category, and each year the recruitment closes in an increasingly shorter period of time.

The third edition of JazzCamp for Girls in Katowice will take place at the beginning of summer vacation, from June 30 to July 4, 2025, with a completely new tutoring team. This year, the participants will be supported musically and substantively by: Malina Midera – a young generation jazz pianist studying in Copenhagen,Franciszek Pospieszalski – jazz double bass player, graduate of the Danish conservatory and award-winning leader, Zofia Ilnicka – flutist active on the improvised music scene, and Piotr Damasiewicz – jazz trumpeter, creator of many projects and, above all, improviser operating at the intersection of various genres.

The workshops cover improvisation and the basics of composition, as well as developing teamwork skills. They also help to break down barriers, build self-confidence in a supportive environment and open up to creative thinking. This year, the musical activities will be complemented by a lecture on improvisation by Rafał Mazur and a workshop “Mindful Body” by Agnieszka Gorajska – concerning the awareness of relaxing the body while playing an instrument.

The final concert of JazzCamp for Girls will be held on Friday, 4.07.2025 at 5:30 pm in the concert hall Katowice Miasto Ogrodów at 2 Sejmu Śląskiego Square in Katowice.

Participation in the workshop as well as admission to the final concert is free.

WOMEX 2023 in A Coruña – special feature

It was my 10th WOMEX! And hoping for more to come.

Edition 2023 was extremely intensive, with 3 appearances at the WOMEX conference, lots of business meetings, networking sessions and last, but least – amazing showcase concerts.

The highlight was the panel discussion moderated by myself and hosting two great speakers – Andrea Voets (BE/NL) and Araceli Tzigane (ES) titled “Reshaping the narrative” on the topic of gender and authority. Beside that, I took part in two other conference sessions: on behalf of UPBEAT platform: “European networks on sustainability” which was associated presentation and number 2: moderating “Festivals networking sessions” hosted by Forum of Worldwide Music Festivals.

Buzzing fair trade area of WOMEX is usually a place where business take place. My main focus this year for the professional encounters was the Music Meeting Festival 2024, negotiations and going over some details before announcing the program of the next edition. A special meeting took place regarding our Creative Europe project Sounds of Europe. Next year at MMF we will host 4 different acts form 4 associated countries: France, Serbia, Poland and Czechia that will perform
their extraordinary music for the audience, but also will have another tasks at the festival like minimeeting workshops for children, interviews in All Ears area and more! Another special business session we had with Australian representatives and musicians due to the planned collaboration with Australia in 2024.

Much to write about the concerts. I will mention one that was the best ceremony award of WOMEX that I remember. BCUC rocked the hall of Teatro Colon in A Coruña. Happy WOMEX it was in this great city located by the Atlantic Ocean.

This project i worked on during COVID time:

We invite you to the first episode of the videocast, in which we tell you about the most interesting phenomena in Polish alternative music. Part 1: improvised music.

A Video Dictionary of Polish Musical Phenomena is a series of videocasts presenting various genres and styles of music related to the Polish alternative scene. They will correspond with the concert cycle, creating a colorful story about Polish music, presented genres and phenomena, forming a kind of video dictionary of Polish music. Experts from the music industry, journalists and event producers will be guides through the meanders of sound and stylistic contexts.
